The Institute of Veterinary Pathology of the University of Zurich is seeking a veterinary pathologist to advance the focus “tumour pathology“ in both diagnostics and research.

The position is available from 1st January 2023.

The successful applicant fulfils the following requirements:

– EU-recognised veterinary degree

– Dr. med. vet. and/or PhD

– International qualification as veterinary pathologist (DiplECVP/DipACVP)

– Experience in tumour diagnostics (biopsies, preferably also cytologies) incl. the application of further immunohistological and molecular biological approaches

– Experience and profound interest in digital pathology (image analysis; morphometry, application of artificial intelligence)

– Interest in an academic career, working within a team, professional challenges and to accept responsibility; flexibility, ingenuity and team skills 

– Good German skills (spoken and written)

The post holder has the following tasks:

– Contribution to the diagnostic biopsy and cytology services 

– Advancement of tumour diagnostics (immunohistology, molecular biology, morphometry, advance image analysis)

– Research within the focus “tumour pathology” (interdisciplinary patient-based applied clinical research; interdisciplinary basic research within the scope of the Laboratory for Animal Model Pathology, LAMP)

– Advancement of image analysis (deep learning, stereology)

– Contribution to undergraduate teaching and postgraduate training (residents)
